Continuous Contour Line Portraits

To get a good understanding of continuous contour drawing, I like to watch Anna Stump’s video with the class. Students used mirrors, and create a continuous contour line portrait of themselves using permanent black marker and a large paper. Once this was complete, students used colored inks to paint themselves using a warm or cool color palette.  Students then used the opposite color palette for the background. We experimented with adding water, painting wet on wet and using plastic wrap to create texture in some areas.
