Memory Project- Rohingya Children 2019

Our Portraits Made It!

Following a previous post that shows the portraits created for this project- here is the video The Memory Project has sent us of the children receiving our portraits!

What is The Memory Project?

The Memory Project is a charitable nonprofit organization that invites art teachers, art students, and solo artists to help cultivate global kindness by creating portraits for children around the world who have faced substantial challenges, such as violence, war, extreme poverty, neglect, and loss of parents. Participants create these portraits to help children feel valued and important, to know that many people care about their well-being, and to provide a special childhood memory in the future. Since 2004 the Memory Project has created more than 130,000 portraits for children in 47 countries. Check out: https://www.memoryproject.org/

Taking Part in this Project

Participating in this project is always rewarding. Not only do students get a chance to learn techniques of portrait drawing- but there is a deeper purpose in creating these portraits. Students know that the children receiving the portraits they made have gone through severe hardship. This is a way to show we care about them and to make a difference in the lives of others. Art CAN change the world!
