Ink Painting Trees

To create these ink tree paintings, we used watercolor paper, and liquid watercolors. We painted the backgrounds first, taping down the edges beforehand to get a border. Once the background was dry, we used black ink and painted a long branched and spindly trees. Students have been studying ink painting from China, Korea and Japan. Some made their own name stamp using a small piece of lino. Using tracing paper, transferring their name or small symbol to represent them onto the lino and carving it out. Remembering that one needs to carve out the mirror reflection of any letters. Red ink was used to stamp it in the bottom corner of their work. I got the idea for these trees from pinterest (vk.com) there are many of them like this.
