Tile Hearts

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, these clay hearts can be used to create a collaborative mosaic.

Students rolled out the clay to about half an inch thick, and then used the square cutter to ensure we all had the same size tiles.

Using tools and our hands, we shaped the heart. Cut outs could also be used to help with shaping the heart. Using various tools we made imprints in the clay, trying to create texture contrast between the heart and the background. We will glaze these once they are fired.
